Information and Resources from MSC
Reaching Medicare eligibility is an important milestone for many people. While we encourage MSC Medicare-eligible current and prospective customers to check helpful and important details with Medicare directly or consult a Medicare expert, we also want to provide high-level information to current and future MSC customers.
Signing Up for Medicare
- As you approach age 65, you can sign up for Medicare during your initial enrollment period. It lasts for 7 months, starting 3 months before you turn 65, and ending 3 months after you turn 65.
- There are several different Medicare plans so be sure to research them and decide what is best for you and your needs.

This may include:
☑ A visit with your doctor to show that you still need the equipment.
☑ A new prescription.
☑ Proof that you still have the equipment, it is in good condition, and you are using it.
Next Steps
☑ Fill out this form tell us about any insurance changes.
- Be sure to include the insurance company name and your Insurance ID Number.
☑ Let us know which doctor manages your equipment and when you last saw them.
- If it has been more than a year, you may need to schedule a visit before they can write a new prescription.
☑ Choose a day for a visit so we can check your equipment and complete a new statement about its condition.
Beneficiaries Entering Medicare Form
MSC created a process to help make the transition from your previous insurance coverage to Medicare for your MSC rental equipment as smooth as possible.
- We will send a link to the above form (Next Steps section) for you to complete which will capture pertinent information regarding your insurance changes as well as where the equipment is located so that we can “examine” the equipment.
Examine the Rental Equipment in Your Home
- Medicare requires we examine the equipment to ensure properly working and meeting your needs to transfer the billing to Medicare.
- Here is what to expect from MSC:
- We will schedule a virtual visit to examine the equipment. (If technology issues prevent a virtual visit, an in-home visit will be available.)
- You will be asked to sign a document noting the examination of the equipment and this will be used to transfer the billing from your old insurance carrier to your Medicare plan.
Questions? – Please Call Us
- If you have any questions about insurance, your equipment, or this process, please call us toll-free at (800) 824-1400, and select option #2 when prompted. We work hard to make sure your questions are answered and your transition with MSC rental medical equipment is simple.
